What are the people of Pleasant View up to these days!? Check it out…
Worship
Sundays at 10:00 AM in the Sanctuary and on Zoom
We worship in a way that brings together traditional elements, contemporary language, and new, creative liturgies. Each week you will find a service that is a bit different from the last, but all are made of the same threads of prayer, scripture, music, preaching, and weekly Communion. The service provides an opportunity for all to voice our prayers and praise to God.
Children:
Ours is an intergenerational worship space. That means that this is a place where all people of all ages are welcome, as they are! We believe that children are an important part of worship. Your kids are allowed to be kids here and not expected to act like tiny adults. Kids will get noisy – that is ok! Kids can’t sit still – that is ok! All children are welcome to the “prayground” area on the left side of the Sanctuary, if they would like. They are also welcome to take any of the materials from that area to your pew for use during the service. Please don’t stress about the behavior of your child – we’ll just be glad you brought them to worship!
Communion:
We believe that when we celebrate Holy Communion each week Christ is truly present with us through the bread, wine, words, and community in a mysterious way that is wonderfully beyond our ability to understand. We receive forgiveness for our sins and are united with the whole Church across all space and time in this Sacrament. Holy Communion is the pinnacle of worship, God’s very presence coming to us. Because of this, we celebrate Holy Communion every Sunday. And, because it is Christ’s table, all are welcome to eat!
learning
Sunday School:
At PVLC we offer Sunday School classes for all people. Sometimes classes are divided by age or interest, other time we work together on a community art or service project during the Sunday School hour. Join us on Sundays, September through May, after Worship (around 11am.)
Zoom Book Group:
A lively, inquisitive group of bookworms!
Our book group meets weekly on Wednesday evenings at 7pm via Zoom and is led by Pastor Sarah. Members of the group are asked to read a chapter or two each week and then be part of a discussion on the material and our reactions to it during the weekly. Sometimes we come with questions, sometimes we come with challenges, but we always learn something new together!
For the first three weeks in November, instead of books, we are listening to a different podcast each week and then discussing it together during our Wednesday gathering.
We’re always happy to welcome new participants, so send us a message or reach out to Pastor Sarah if you want to join – you don’t even have to be local since we gather on Zoom!
